A pragmatic adaptive open label, randomized phase II/II multicenter study of IFX-1 in patients with severe COVID-19 pneumonia: PANAMO

We investigate safety and effectivness of treatment of COVID-19 patients with severe  pneumonia addmited to the intensive care unit.

Mental health impact of COVID-19

We do research on mental health impact of COVID-19 in large-scale ongoing psychiatric cohort studies (NESDA, NESDO, NOCDA).

COVID-19 research

Based on a survey  for patients not admitted to the hospital and an inhospital database for patients admitted with a COVID infection, we investigate whether antihypertensive medication might be protective or deleterious in COVID infection.

Reveal SARS-CoV-2 Carbohydrate-Mediated Molecular and Serological events: from the host-virus interface(s), to the lung microbiome and serology

Our study aims at understanding the interactions between the bacteria colonising the lung and the virus. These interactions are key events in the preliminary steps on the infection as well as in triggering a proper immune response.

Surveillance Epidemiology of Corona Virus (COVID-19) Under Research Exclusion - Atopic Dermatitis, the SECURE AD registry

With a secure, online, de-identified Personal Health Identifier (PHI)-free reporting registry, we are collecting worldwide observational data on cases of COVID-19 in atopic dermatitis patients treated with and without systemic immunomodulating therapy.

Autoimmunity and covid-19

The activated immune status of patients with autoimmunities may decrease Covid-19 infection risk, disease development or severity. We will investigate this in a large international cohort of vitiligo patients, and extent this project to other autoimmune diseases.

COVID KIDS study: HUMORAL RESPONSES to SARS-Coronavirus 2 in children

The study aims to evaluate the circulatory and mucosal immunity  against SARS-CoV2 in children during the COVID-19 outbreak in the Netherlands.

Serologic surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 during the 2020 pandemic in exposed and unexposed healthcare workers in an academic hospital in Amsterdam (S3-study).

During 4 months in the corona pandemic we ask hospital workers to fill in a short survey about health complaints and work conditions, and we test antibody titers for SARS-CoV-2 and prior non-SARS-CoV-2 corona-viruses.

COVID-19: unravelling the pathophysiology. Short: COMET (COvid MEdicaTion) study

Important aspects such as the role of angiotensin coverting enzyme (ACE)2 in facilitating SARS-CoV-2 cell invasion via binding of a viral spike protein to ACE2 have already been established during an earlier SARS-CoV outbreak with a variant showing large similarity with the current virus, therefore now referred to as SARS-CoV-2. Certain drugs have been suggested to influence ACE2 expression, such as ACE inhibitors (inhibiting ACE1), angiotensin II receptor blockers and non-steroid anti-inlammatory drugs. The aim of the COMET study is to investigate the relationship between use of certain drugs on clinical outcome of patients with COVID-19.

Exposure to STI during an intelligent lockdown situation in Amsterdam during the COVID19 crisis

We want to  investigate the barriers and motives for having sex during the intelligent lockdown due to the Corona pandemic. To this end, we would like to invite visitors with a proven gonorrhea infection with complaints to an interview with questions about current measures against the spread of the coronavirus and sexual contact. People who spontaneously indicate that they had sex in the past period with a partner who is not a housemate can also participate. With this we hope to gain insight into the transmission of STI during a pandemic. Based on these results, better health advices can be formulated.

Comparison of hemodynamic profiles of ICU Covid patients in and within NL and ITA

From recordings of hemodynamic tracings of 100+ patients in Milan and Amsterdam, can we discern different hemodynamic profiles depending on therapy or patient trajectory? Also, can we develop an algorithm that uses continuous arterial blood pressure to predict reponse to active deresuscitatio (frusemide therapy)

Covid population predictor

Building and testing of a machie learning algorithm that uses public data (sociodemographic, traffic, historic and weather) to accurately predict new covid cases per region (gemeente), new hospital and admissions per hospital. Also we will validate this ‘Dutch’ model in London and NY state.

Impact of Medical treatment on the clinical course of COVID-19 Patients (IMCOP) A large Dutch nationwide retrospective cohort study

The goal of the study is: To compare outcomes of different antiviral strategies that are given as part of standard treatment in various hospitals in the Netherlands: Does treatment with (hydroxy-) chloroquine and/or azitromycin has an impact on mortality and/or ICU admission of COVID-19 patients?
