Serologic surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 during the 2020 pandemic in exposed and unexposed healthcare workers in an academic hospital in Amsterdam (S3-study).

COVID-19: unravelling the pathophysiology. Short: COMET (COvid MEdicaTion) study

Important aspects such as the role of angiotensin coverting enzyme (ACE)2 in facilitating SARS-CoV-2 cell invasion via binding of a viral spike protein to ACE2 have already been established during an earlier SARS-CoV outbreak with a variant showing large similarity with the current virus, therefore now referred to as SARS-CoV-2. Certain drugs have been suggested to influence ACE2 expression, such as ACE inhibitors (inhibiting ACE1), angiotensin II receptor blockers and non-steroid anti-inlammatory drugs. The aim of the COMET study is to investigate the relationship between use of certain drugs on clinical outcome of patients with COVID-19.

Exposure to STI during an intelligent lockdown situation in Amsterdam during the COVID19 crisis

We want to  investigate the barriers and motives for having sex during the intelligent lockdown due to the Corona pandemic. To this end, we would like to invite visitors with a proven gonorrhea infection with complaints to an interview with questions about current measures against the spread of the coronavirus and sexual contact. People who spontaneously indicate that they had sex in the past period with a partner who is not a housemate can also participate. With this we hope to gain insight into the transmission of STI during a pandemic. Based on these results, better health advices can be formulated.

Covid population predictor

Building and testing of a machie learning algorithm that uses public data (sociodemographic, traffic, historic and weather) to accurately predict new covid cases per region (gemeente), new hospital and admissions per hospital. Also we will validate this ‘Dutch’ model in London and NY state.

Impact of Medical treatment on the clinical course of COVID-19 Patients (IMCOP) A large Dutch nationwide retrospective cohort study

The goal of the study is: To compare outcomes of different antiviral strategies that are given as part of standard treatment in various hospitals in the Netherlands: Does treatment with (hydroxy-) chloroquine and/or azitromycin has an impact on mortality and/or ICU admission of COVID-19 patients?
